Longji Ancient Zhuang Village is one of the largest Zhuang minority people’s village over this area. And it boasts the oldest Zhuang village in Longsheng region. This village is a typical example of the traditional philosophy of fengshui when people choose a place to settle down. Beside the village, there is a ridge that hovers like a huge dragon from the high mountain down to the River of Jinjiang. This village is right located on this ridge, hence the name “dragon ridge”. Longji people make full use of the rich local stone to create a unique Zhuang stone culture. The stone roads and bridges in this ancient Zhuang village symbolize the diligence and wisdom of the people here. But if you walk on the village path, you will find that the ancient stone bridge here also has its unique charm.
The ancient wood buildings of Zhuang people here are well preserved. The houses in this village are the most complete typical Zhuang “ganlan” architectural complex in China. There are still seven old houses in the village with a history of more than one hundred years. Stone bridges, stone roads, ancient pavilions, old trees, stone inscriptions, stone stele, etc., all make this village a really ancient one. At present, there are 300 households with a population of over 1300 living in this village. To wander around in this village or hike from this village to another one nearby is always the best way to get to know here.
