Literally means a village of peace, Ping’an Village is one of the largest Zhuang people’s villages in Longji area. Visitors come to visit this village mostly because of two reasons: the exotic Zhuang people’s culture and the stunning scenery of the rice terraces.
There are about 120 households with a population of 1000 in Ping’an Village. All villagers share a common family name of Liao. The clothing and living characteristics of Zhuang people are well preserved. Men wear double-breasted homespun jacket, women wear white lace jacket with the head wrapped in a large flowered scarf. Their houses are made of firtree wood by taking the technique of mortise and tenon joint structure. Almost every family use rice to make a kind of wine which is a little sweet and tastes good. The local people call it “water wine”.
In different time of a day and different weather, the sceneries around Ping’an Village are changeable and various. In a foggy day, the fogs drift from the valley and the village to the top of the mountain and back again. It’s really a wonderland. Around the village, there are two famous viewing platforms, “The Moon Accompanied by Seven Stars” and “Nine Dragons and Five Tigers”, from where a stunning panoramic view can be fully enjoyed. Always being the starting point or end of our hiking tours around Longji area, Ping’an Village is definitely a place that one can not miss.
