Itinerary

Day 1:Guilin/Yangshuo – Jiangliu Village – Jiuwu Village (Hiking for 6.5km/4.04 miles, 2.5hrs)

Drive from Guilin or Yangshuo northward to a small village named Jiangliu, enjoy pretty countryside scenery along the way. The drive takes normally three hours. The driving roads then disappear, and we start our 2.5-hour long hike from this village until we arrive a smaller village named Jiuwu. When we see chimney smoke rising from the cottages in the distance, there comes Jiuwu Village, a peaceful hamlet on the mountainside.

Stay overnight in a local farmer’s wood cottage in Jiuwu Village.

Meals: (No included meals)

Day 2:Jiuwu Village – Xiaozhai Village – Dazhai Village (Hiking for 11.3km/7.02 miles, 4hrs)

Departing Jiuwu Village, we hike up and down hill for about 3 hours through the fantastic terraced rice paddy areas before lunch in Xiaozhai Village. It’s a beautiful Yao people’s village. Let’s have a break strolling around in the village after lunch. Then keep hiking to Dazhai village in about 1 hour or 1.5 hours. Stay overnight in a simple guesthouse in Dazhai village. To wander around in the village to get to know more about Yao people’s life, to have a cup of tea to recharge your energy or to have a Yao style foot massage will be the options for you to enjoy the rest time of the day.

Stay overnight in Dazhai Village.

Meals: (Breakfast)

Day 3:Dazhai Village – Ping’an Village – Guilin (Hiking for 12.9km/8.03 miles, 5hrs)

Hike for about 5 hours from Dazhai to Ping’an village. We pass through some Yao people’s villages, such as Zhongliu Villazge, viewing terraced rice paddies and people working in there all the way. We will have a late lunch in Ping’an Village which is a Zhuang people’s village. (If we get hungry early, we can of course have an earlier lunch in a village before Ping’an.) Enjoy your free time in this exotic village before being picked up by our van in the afternoon.

A 2.5 hour drive will take us back to the city of Guilin (one more hour to Yangshuo). Our three-day hiking ends when we are back to our hotel in town.
